The Story of PVGEN

PV Generation Ltd. (T/A PVGEN) was founded in 2015 by Joe Garvin, Laura McArdle, and Richard Linger, who saw a gap in the Irish market for a solar company built around people, not just products. Their goal was to deliver high-quality solar solutions with honesty, expertise, and a customer-first approach.

Joe brought over 30 years of experience managing construction and PV installation teams across Ireland and North America. Laura contributed deep industry knowledge from working with leading solar companies, helping shape PVGEN’s focus on service and differentiation. Richard, a technologist and entrepreneur, added global experience and a strong commitment to sustainable innovation.

Together, they built PVGEN into a trusted solar partner, focused on helping homes and businesses across Ireland benefit from solar energy, without ever compromising on quality or service.

We now have a staff of over 260 people across all sectors of the company. We operate out of two bases, one in Scotstown, Co. Monaghan and one in Glanmire, Co. Cork. This serves us best to allow us to cover all 32 counties on the island of Ireland. We offer residential, agricultural and commercial solar in the 26 counties of Ireland but only agricultural and commercial solar in the six counties of Northern Ireland. That’s 260 employees across two offices and warehouse/ distribution centres. We’re not your “man in the van” solar operation, we have dedicated teams for customer service, grants, engineering, design and installation. We stand over our work. We guaranteed our workmanship and our product guarantees go to 30 years for some systems.

We build solar systems the right way, no corners cut, no compromises made. Premium equipment, expert installation, and proper support from people who actually care. It’s not cheap, but it’s the only way we’d want it done on our own homes.
