In 2017/2018 PV Generation, through the SEAI Better Energy Communities (BEC) Schemes, installed 100 systems of 1.1kWp size on ageing houses that received a Better Energy Communities grant-aided upgrade from Cork City Council.
This was the first year that solar PV had been included in BEC schemes. We had limited time in which to complete these installations; thankfully due to our experience in the field we finished the scheme ahead of schedule.
Cork city Council have at least 5,000 more of these types of low occupancy units which could benefit from minimal-sized systems of 4 panels. Financially these systems make sense for council and their tenants. These systems are wired to string inverters rated at 1300 watts to enable full capture of all generation potential.
